The YUPO DNA –innovative sustainability

At YUPO, we believe that innovation and sustainability are inseparably linked. Through our ongoing work on environmentally friendly materials and processes, we help conserve resources. As a leading manufacturer of synthetic print substrates, we are also committed to minimizing the ecological footprint of our production.

Our Contribution

Our production processes are designed for recycling, reuse, and zero-waste manufacturing. Harmful substances have no place in our operations. We actively support the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and rely on innovation to drive positive change. Additionally, we continuously improve our environmental standards to achieve “zero” environmental impact.

Sustainability at YUPO

LESS IS MORE: RESOURCE-EFFICIENT PRODUCTION

Our advanced manufacturing processes enable us to reduce the plastic content in our products by up to 20%—without compromising the proven quality and durability.

With energy-efficient production processes, we reduce CO₂ emissions and minimize resource consumption. Our production complies with strict RoHS and REACH standards and is based on environmentally friendly processes without harmful emissions. This achievement has been honored with the US Waste and Storm Water Quality Platinum Award, which we have received for five years in a row.

CIRCULAR ECONOMY: GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT ALL ROUND

More reuse, less waste. We recycle production scraps and reintroduce them into the manufacturing process, while packaging such as pallets and cartons are reused multiple times. Our aim is to transform used YUPO through upcycling into new products and to use recycled materials in production. Be it durable brochures, reusable stickers like YUPOJelly®, or sustainable packaging—we actively help keep materials in the cycle longer. Most YUPO products are compatible with polyolefin waste streams and can be disposed of in an environmentally friendly way or safely incinerated.*

ISO 14001 certified – acting responsibly.

YUPO goes a step further and meets the international ISO 14001 standards for environmental management. Our production site in Kashima and our research and development center in Japan have been certified under these strict standards since 2000. We are continuously working to reduce energy consumption, optimize recycling processes, and cut waste. We are committed to preventing environmental pollution and workplace accidents.
